All bow hunters experienced, and inexperience has most likely heard the phrase “October lull”. This window of time to me is one of the most frustrating to be hunting. The bucks are caught in that phase of separating themselves from the groups and focusing on staying undetected, living the nightlife.

All of us as hunters know that they are there, they can’t hide from the Stealth Cams and Cuddeback CuddeLink Trail Cameras. Then we sit, and we sit again with no fruits from our time sitting 22 feet high up in a tree, or a ground blind. Believe me, I know this is hard to experience but stay the course.

This is not the time to get complacent in your approach to hunting the land you own, lease, or if you’re lucky enough have a handshake agreement from a kind farmer to access his property. It is now when your due diligence is so significant. Scent wash, play the wind, know where your deer are living.

Here in the bluff country of Southeastern Minnesota where the BRO Team calls home. Wind is king, these hills and bluffs can grab a wind direction, shake it up like its rolling dice and throw you contrary winds all day. This has left us having to abandon the most perfect set, on the most perfect night, because we don’t want to screw up that spot for weeks.
